I am liberal on social issues. And I think that the party is at a place where social issues shouldn't be the issues that define the party. And I have taken heat, but in fairness to me, I am a different generation than the people that are giving me heat. I'm 24 years old. I'm not in my 40s, I'm not in my 50s and older." -Meghan McCain on Larry King Live Full interview here

In case you haven't noticed there's a bit of an ideological war going on for the helm of the Republican party. Conservatives versus moderates or to use Meghan McCain's term Progressive Republican, ever notice how liberals and moderates are afraid to be identified as such so they come up with neat names like progressive? I'm willing to give Meghan the benefit of the doubt though I mean after all someone who voted for John Kerry in 2004 and didn't become a registered Republican until her Dad (a moderate himself) started running for President she probably still doesn't have a total grasp on what it means to be a conservative. Now as a 22 year old Rush Baby I have a slight advantage here but I'll exercise some restraint.

First of all, the fact that you aren't lounging around 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue should be your first clue that running as a moderate progressive squish Republican is not the way to win elections. Even when your Dad claimed to be a foot solider in the Reagan Revolution nobody really believed him. In fact the only time your Dad jumped up in the polls was when he announced Sarah Palin, apparently the only conservative that was allowed anywhere near the McCain campaign, as his running mate. Even after that some in your Dad's campaign had no problem turning Palin into a human speed bump and your refusal to even comment on Sarah Palin is pretty indicative of what you think of her and her conservative values. I know, I know your not a conservative you're a Progressive and totally more open minded except when it comes to mean people like Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh.

"I was raised in an open-minded home. I was raised a Christian, but I was raised open-minded Christian -- one to accept people, love people, not pass judgment...I personally am pro-life, but I'm not going to judge someone that's pro-choice. It is not my place to judge other people and what they do with their body." - Meghan McCain on Larry King Live

You say you want a big tent party? Fine so do I but that doesn't mean I want to water down my principles and beliefs so it becomes Democrat Lite. With your definition of a big tent we wouldn't have a party we'd have a bunch of talking heads not talking about principles but spouting off flavor of the month policies that have no long term foresight. You want to build a big tent Meghan? Then stand for something! Reach out to people and say this is what I believe in and this is how it can help you! Stop equating conservatism to being judgemental. It isn't judgemental to say "Get a job and take responsibility for yourself so you can get of welfare and not be a slave to the government." You believe in being an open-minded Christian? Great so do I because Christ opened is arms to all sinners no matter how great the sin and forgives anyone who seeks His forgiveness but He also says don't keep sinning either we're supposed to strive to live better lives. So yes you can be pro-life and not pass judgement on women who have received abortions but that doesn't mean you just throw your hands up and say "Whatever works for you!" You encourage a culture of life by standing on your principles.

And stop making this a generational thing Meghan. Solid core values stand the test of time they might not always make you popular with the rest of the world but then again the rest of the world knows deep, deep, deep down inside that it's those principles that have kept them safe from tyranny. In the grand scheme of things this isn't a popularity contest Meghan most people who have a beef with you aren't really upset that you're the liberal media's new lap dog they're more irritated that you're talking about things you don't fully understand. You're selling out on something that you don't really believe in to begin with. So go ahead and peddle you "Progressive" agenda but don't be surprised when it gets thrown back into your face.

Fairness:Liberal style

Yesterday in a radio interview with Bill Press Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) had this to say about bring back the Fairness Docterine, "I think it's time to bring accountability to the airwaves. I mean our new president has talked about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to stepup and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place."

OK fine I'm all for transparency so let's add some clarity to this. First of all Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) is married to Tom Athans who has held key positions at three liberal companies that tried to field liberal radio talk. The first was Democracy Radio which he co-founded and was the CEO until it fizzled out after three years. He then went on to that great leviathan of liberal failure Air America which is now bankrupt and for the past three years he's been the CEO of Talk USA Radio who's station OBAMA 1260 recently shut down. So one could say that Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) has a vested interest in the success of liberal talk radio. You probably also noticed two patterns that Athans seems to be the kiss of death at any company he comes to and that no matter how much money you pump into something and how much hype it gets if the public doesn't like the product it will fail, huh that's kind of this pile of lard stimulus package the more the public knows about it the less they like it perhaps Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) and the rest of the Senate should take not of that. Probably not though because they have this silly notion that they know more than the people who will actually be paying for this but anyway back to Senator Debbie Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822)

The best part is her line about how Obama has called for "transparency and accountability." Huh, well if those things were really important to Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) then why oh why did she vote to confirm the tax-cheat Timothy Geithner? Where's the accountability there? Well it was an honest mistake, oh please if you or I had tried to get away with what he did we'd be in jail. When the tax cheat Tom Daschel dropped out as Obama's nominee for Head of Health and Human Services Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) lamented this saying "I'm very sorry that that happened. He's a great leader and would have made a real difference in health care." What are you sorry about Debbie? Are you sorry that he resigned in a cloud of shame or that he got caught? And I'm sick and tired of this "We'll he's the best candidate for the job" line B.S.! There are other more qualified people out there and America deserves better then to have a bunch of tax cheats and liars leading us, there are plenty of them there and they should be voted out because America can do better.

The problem is that Stabenow (call her at 202-224-4822) and the rest of her liberal colleagues don't understand the free market. People will buy, support, listen to what they want not what the government tells them to. Talk radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh are successful because they are informative, entertaining, and on point. If people believed in liberal policies and wanted to hear them trumpeted every day Keith Olbermann(the antithesis of accountability) would have 20 million viewers a day and MSNBC would be the most watched network but people don't which is why Rush has 20 million listeners and Olbermann has been finishing a distant second or third in the his 8 o'clock time slot. In fact the least watched program on Fox News Channel has more viewers than the most watched show on MSNBC.

You might have noticed that I'd like you to call Debbie Stabenow and even if you don't live in Michigan I'd still encourage you to give her a call because she wants to silence at least half the country by destroying talk radio as we know it and perhaps Debbie would do well to actually listen to the people of America before threatening the First amendment. So give her a call at 202-224-4822.

Oh and as a final note Bill Press is a flaming liberal so it isn't as though the left has no voice on the radio.

A call against Complacency

To hear the liberals on T.V. last night you'd think that House Republicans are a bunch of sore losers childishly standing in the way of The One's great economic plan you might even have gotten the impression that the plan had actually failed at first. Once in a great while I watch a few minutes of the cesspool known as MSNBC and at this particular time Rachel Maddow was lamenting how Obama extended the hand of compromise over and over to those ingrate Republicans only to be thanked by not getting a single Republican to vote for the much hollowed stimulus package. According to Maddow Republicans should be falling over themselves to help the economy that was destroyed under Bush's watch (no mention of the Democrat corruption over at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac of course). She then complained about how no House Republican would come onto her show for an interview (perhaps because they've either never heard of it or they were doing interviews on shows with an actual viewership) except for Representative Don Manzullo from Illinois who spent the time explaining to Maddow what actual stimulus is as opposed to funding more government programs thus growing the beast that got us into to this mess. After the interview Maddow continued to harp on the fact that ZERO Republicans voted for the stimulus absent however, was her noting that 11 Democrats also voting against the package making the nays the only bi-partisan effort last night as noted by the Great One Mark Levin (never to be confused with The One).

This is to me the most important thing from last night's vote because the Democrats in both sides have the majority and can pretty much run roughshod over any Republican opposition which is why the strength of that opposition is so important as well as the number of Democrats we can pull to our side. So how do you maintain a strong opposition? Stand by your principles even in the face of an old-fashioned drubbing stand tall GOP because your strength will attract those from the other side who believe as you do never underestimate the Blue Dog Democrats. I am convinced more and more that the party names don't mean so much as do the terms Conservative and Liberal. When you look at the R and the D by a congressman's name don't stop there look at their record are they a Conservative? Liberal? Or that dreaded wishy washy moderate? Conservatism will win the day it might not win every battle in Congress but if you stand by those values we the people will stand behind you come 2010 and beyond.

As an example I live in Ohio's 16th Congressional District which for 50+ years had been a Republican stronghold but is now being represented by a Democrat John Boccieri who replaced the retiring Ralph Regula a moderate Republican. The question is though how did a Democrat take a historically Republican district? Some will say it was just a Democrat year and there wasn't much a Republican could do. I blame complacency not just on the voters and local party leaders but on the man who was replaced Ralph Regula. Why blame the retired Regula because he along with local Republicans was lulled into a sense of complacency. He had been in Congress for 30+ years so how could a Republican not win? He was primaried by Matt Miller(whom I supported) who lost but the fact that Regula was even primaried should have sent a signal that the people weren't just satisfied with an R representing them they wanted some conservative principles to go with that R something that overtime Regula felt like overtime didn't need much tending to. People are waking up and they aren't just going to vote for the D or the R because that's the way it's always been. Now I know that not every House Republican is a rock solid conservative but if we continue to call and "Melt the phone lines" as Representative Michelle Bachmann called for yesterday perhaps they will find and maintain their spine. Many of our politicians have grown complacent we can not afford to do the same. Last night was a statement that we will not stand by as liberals try to turn America into a mediocre socialist state and we can not let this statement fall to the wayside but we must continue to repeat it and support those in Congress who share our cause.

Support HR 614

HR 614 is a bill being sponsored by Mike Pence that would cut funding to Planned Parenthood.
Pence introduced the bill on January 20 with the following statement:
"As most Americans know, it is simply morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion. But it is also morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans and use them to promote abortion at home or abroad. Many Americans fail to recognize the largest abortion provider in America is also the largest recipient of federal taxpayer dollars through Title X—this should not be. Yesterday, with more than 60 cosponsors, I re-introduced the ‘Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act,’ a bill that would deny any federal funding to Planned Parenthood of America. This is an uphill battle but in the face of FOCA everything counts.

Tom Hanks: Arbiter of Patriotism

Once upon a time Tom Hanks made good movies, really good movies that my Dad and I could both watch and appreciate. Even though deep down we knew he was probably a liberal at least he didn't shove down our throats. I could still separate the man from the character in his movies something that I can never do with Tom Cruise. Then he came out yesterday with this gem of a statement about Californians who supported the now famous Prop 8 ban on gay marriage in particular Mormons, "The truth is this takes place in Utah, the truth is these people are some bizarre offshoot of the Mormon Church, and the truth is a lot of Mormons gave a lot of money to the church to make Prop-8 happen. There are a lot of people who feel that is un-American, and I am one of them. I do not like to see any discrimination codified on any piece of paper, any of the 50 states in America, but here's what happens now. A little bit of light can be shed, and people can see who's responsible, and that can motivate the next go around of our self correcting Constitution, and hopefully we can move forward instead of backwards. So let's have faith in not only the American, but Californian, constitutional process.”

So what's he trying to say? Most Mormons aren't polygamists but they're still homophobes who are un-American? So un-American that they donated money to support a cause they believed in and voted in favor of that cause? For someone who claims to believe in America Hanks would do well to study how this country works especially when it comes to amending the Constitution. The only way the Constitution can be amended is by the will of the people not through some activist court system our some overzealous politician. It's the people of America who hold the power to change our Constitution. Hanks and people who think as he do are the minority when it comes to legalizing gay marriage so according to our Founding Fathers they lost fair and square but liberals know better than them so if that means overriding the majority to stuff their narrow world view down our throats then so be it. We'll thank them later right?

And seriously, I'm not a Mormon and have never met one but lay off of them already because they weren't the only block of people to vote for Prop 8. Let's not forget that 70% of blacks who voted against Prop 8. Of course you'll never hear liberals come out against one of there favorite groups to victimize. Liberals have been using blacks for over forty years to promote government welfare. Mormons offer nothing to the liberals by way of promoting their liberal policies so they're fair game for intolerant comments like Hanks.

So maybe instead of passing judgement on the unwashed masses maybe Hanks would be better off checking out the actual Constitution and how things actually work before making ignorant statements like that again. One can always dream.

The Tale of Two Racist Stories

Sometimes the media double slandered is amazingly obvious even some liberals must notice it. In this case we have two stories both dealing with racism and bigotry. The first and more talked about of course deals with Prince Harry. By now you've either read or seen the video of the good Prince referring to a fellow solider as a "Paki" and another as a "raghead" This story naturally drew the Shock! Horror! and Dismay! of the MSM. Granted after his going as a Nazi for Halloween gaffe a few years ago should have been lesson enough to mind his image. Frankly I don't really have a problem with what he actually said it's fairly tame and the two soldiers didn't seem offended either. He should have had sense enough not to tape it though (didn't Paris Hilton's sex tape teach us anything?) he's 24 and by now should be well aware of his position in the eyes of the world if this tape had leaked out and he was regular old Harry Windsor the public still would have ruffled its feathers but he's not some regular guy he's Prince Harry and although the British monarchy is nothing more than a figurehead his actions can and more than likely will be used by the terrorist to stir up radical Muslims.

Now on to our next story that hasn't gotten any attention from our MSM. With the recent fighting in Gaza the anti-Israel bigots have come out full force in this country and through out many western European countries Mark Steyn has a brilliant piece on this very issue. But have we seen it? Has CNN shown anti-Israel protest in Fort Lauderdale where one protester is yelling "You need to go back to the oven! You need a bigger oven!" ? If they have I haven't seen it and it certainly hasn't gotten the coverage that Prince Harry's comments have. But there's more where we only have two minor blurbs from Prince Harry there are countless anti-Israel anti-Semitic rallies being held throughout America and the world. Ironically many are being held in areas that trumpet their tolerance like this one in San Francisco. Where is the outrage from the MSM when these punks compare Jews to Nazis? Scroll down through the images and you'll see a particularly disgusting caricature of a Hasidic Jew. Where are the headlines of national newspapers decrying this bigotry? Where is the moral outrage?

I admire Prince Harry for fighting along side his fellow soldiers I just hope he becomes a bit more tactful in the future but at least when he's taping himself he's not hiding behind a head covering like the anti-Israel anti-Semitic bigots.

Sarah Palin: Whiner?

That's the impression you'd get not only from libs but also "conservative" writers like David Frum and his wife Danielle Crittenden. Critteden appeared on last night's O'Reilly and Frum has an article over at National Review Online today. In the article he first defends the McCain handlers assigned to her by simpering Those handlers faced a daunting problem: Their party's nominee for vice president could not respond to questions without embarrassing herself. The handlers who kept Pain under wraps knew what they were doing. THad Palin refused all interviews during the campaign, there would have been some criticism, but it would have been forgotten by now - and the Gibson and Couric interviews would not be filling YouTube, ready to be rebroadcast in 2012. I think the John Ziegler interview proved that Palin is quite capable of handling herself in an interview granted Ziegler is a Palin fan. The "embarrassing herself" line is particularly galling considering the verbal gaffes from both Obama and Biden through out the campaign. I suppose when Obama says 10,000 (as opposed to the actual number of 12) people were killed in a Kansas tornado it comes of as cool and nuanced or some other clap trap nonsense.

Frum continues, A smart politician rebuffs all invitations to speak about his or her own hurt feelings. It's not just that such talk sounds whiny and weak, although it does. Perhaps Frum misinterpreted what Palin was actually saying but last time I checked calling the media out for being biased was an admirable thing. Or in the case of Trig and the rumors about who his own mother is, rumors that were based on anonymous accusations I would think that a journalist such as Frum would applaud people like Palin who call rumor mongers to the carpet for attempting to pass as legitimate news sources. Apparently though Frum and his ilk prefer a conservative who says nothing in the face of lies and smears instead nobly remaining above the fray. Let me clarify by saying we shouldn't get into the mud pit but conservatives should not be afraid to call out a liar a liar. Conservatism works in fact it's amazingly brilliant! So why should we be ashamed to defend it? People like Frum, his wife, and Kathleen Parker would probably prefer we leave politics to "learned" people like themselves as opposed to the unwashed rabble that actually makes up the base of conservatism. There's just one problem they don't understand what they're talking about.

Then there is this absurd accusation Through the 2008 election, Barack Obama repeatedly said "It's not about me. It's about you." Exactly so! But Palin's replies to Ziegler make clear that for her, the election was about her. Are you kidding me!? This whole campaign was about Barack Obama and how cool he is and all his HOPE and CHANGE. The foundation for Obama's campaign was nothing more then dust bunnies and the monsters in the closet and the fact that "conservative" David Frum got sucked into that empty vortex paints a fairly clear picture of where his head is. In fact I can think of several instances of whining from Obama himself the easiest one to site is when he stated that the opposing party would come after him for "having a funny name" or "not looking like the other presidents on the dollar bills" So Frum doesn't mind Obama insinuating that the Republican Party is a bunch of ignorant racists but Sarah Palin stands up for her family and it's unacceptable? Give me a break the fact that Frum is still allowed near NRO is an insult to true conservatism.

Frum should face facts that the strategy of going Democrat light is not the way to go. I may not be a Washington insider but even I can see how every time a Republican has extended a hand in the hopes of bi-partisanship they've returned with nothing but a bloody stump. Sarah Palin knows this is how it works and instead of sacrificing a perfectly good limb she's standing tall like an upright human being and telling the liberals to step off! I loved her Mama Grizzly moment because don't we all feel that way when a family member is experiencing hard times? She's a real woman and if in 22 years when I'm her age I will have considered myself truley blessed if I've lived a life anywhere near hers. When she was talking about the smears about herself and Trig I felt myself getting emotional as well because this is something that decent people should never have to put up with and love how she went after the media for Obama's request to "leave his family alone" but didn't hesitate to report every sordid lie that came out about her family especially from that bile factory the Daily Kos. Also she sums up Keith Olbermann perfectly "That guy is evil!" Olbaermann had better hope that the human restraint exercised by Sarah never breaks or he'll be at the mercy of one p.o.'ed Mama Grizzly (not that I don't entertain the thought on occasion). I don't pretend to know what 2012 is going to look like and whether Sarah will run then but I do believe that this interview is but a taste of the real Sarah and if the libs aren't wetting themselves yet they soon will be.

Shame on you New Jersey!

This story came via the Drudge report. Apparently a child who sadly passed away while still at the hospital was thrown away in the garbage! What's most horrific is what the Hudson county prosecutor said concerning this poor child apparently if this baby was stillborn under New Jersey law he is not considered a person! That means that in the eyes of New Jersey law a stillborn child is just a mass of tissue that can be tossed away like any other defective part of the human body. This is disgusting especially considering Barack Obama's views on the value of human life . So I had to wait a few days to find out about the charming way "comedian" Kathy Griffin handled a heckler. By charming I of course mean crass and lame mainly because the joke is prehistoric and it was totally unnecessary. I'm sorry but if you're that thin skinned of a person that you have to respond to every drunken idiot like that then your pretty pathetic and probably not very funny. Now I'm no prude and laugh at a little blue comedy now and then but saying a string of four letter words in order doesn't really count as humor in book neither does telling Jesus to "suck it" after accepting an award (which she did in 2007).
Another thing I find amusing is how some people are offended that CNN would allow such garbage on, um it's CNN it was founded by Ted Turner who's not really a paragon for decency. So am I offended? Sure. Am i tired of trash like this passing for humor? Definitely. Am I shocked? Sadly not so much. Christmas'/>

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all! Today I'll be brief. My thoughts today were inspired by recent comments made by funny guy and atheist Penn Jillette . What struck me was when he asked how much do you have to hate a person not to care about their soul? It struck me because this is often a time of year when we are moved to witness more then usual. It's also a time of year when we are most under attack for our views. We can easily be frustrated sometimes by those who choose not to believe in Christ for whatever reason sometimes we can get down right angry at them I know I do. Personally it's hard for me sometimes to look at people in my own life or celebrities who clearly just don't get it and not want to give up on them. Yet I don't hate them and while they might frustrate me at times by there actions they're still a brother or sister in Christ and I'm just as flawed as they are.
So I guess when you sit in church and hear the Christmas story told again we have to remember that He came for all of us because we're all in need of salvation. Again I don't want too run long on this but I guess the message I'd really like to share today is when you pray pray for those who have yet to find Christ pray for those who are the most militant against Christ (it could be someone you know or someone famous) but pray for them nonetheless because the joy we feel today should be felt by all even if at this very moment they are working to destroy that joy. Don't let that joy be over come by hate or frustration. So God bless you and your families today and enjoy this Christmas time.

Political DNA

There once was a time when former mayor of New York City Ed Koch had a few grains of sense but in lieu of the political coming out party of Caroline Kennedy has lost them. Quote the good mayor "When you look at her, and you know what the Kennedy's are capable of and you know the family she comes from … think of the DNA." Somewhere the words strength of character are enduring a slow painful death. Does Koch really want talk about Kennedy DNA? Where would one start? Murder? Rape? Alcoholism? And let's not forget Grandpa Joe's Nazi sympathies. It's a sad thing when your womanizing father is considered the decent one of the family.
Of course we have the assurance from the Left that Uncle Teddy will be there the guide Caroline through the Senate. Hopefully they won't be driving over any bridges. The memory of Mary Jo Kopechne isn't the only thing that haunts Ted Kennedy. This is a guy who twice was expelled from Harvard for cheating (nothing that Joe Kennedy couldn't fix though). Kennedy also failed to win the Democratic party nomination for president. Losing against Jimmy Carter that means the majority of Democrats felt that Jimmy Carter had a better chance against Ronald Reagan.
Liberals of course call foul. They say you can't judge Caroline on her family and their moral mistakes you have to look at her personal accomplishments. Indeed we do and I agree because this is America not some stodgy European country that answers to an archaic class system of nobility and entitlement. And this is where the liberals get caught in their own hypocrisy (not that hard to do mind you) because they created the "Kennedy Mystique" they want an American royal family to obsess about like they do in England but that's not what America is about because that's what America fought against. Yes, there are influential names on both major parties but that doesn't ensure political success and it never should. I'm not naive enough to think that nepotism isn't apart of American politics but that doesn't mean that we have to take it every single time. Some New York Democrats have already voiced their displeasure with the assumed coronation of Caroline Kennedy granted they probably have political designs of their own but at least their saying let's slow this train down before we start basing everything on pedigree and name.
And keep this in mind liberal media if Caroline Kennedy wife, mother, and concerned citizen can make the Senate then Gov. Sarah Palin wife, mother, and concerned citizen can damn well run against your Secular Savior in 2012 and win.

Blago, Corruption, Obama, and other observations

Several reoccurring thoughts on this whole Blagoevich scandal. Aside from the fact that the media is fiening surprise over this whole thing (What's that you say, corruption? In the state where Obama's political career got started? Huh, imagine that.) What's most amusing and kind of pathetic are the mental acrobatics the MSM is doing in order to keep the One hoisted above this whole mess free of any suspicion. See, I just don't how even someone as bright and clean as Obama could immerse themselves in the Chicago political world benefit from it and not come out of it with some baggage call me cynical or just ask David Axelrod. Unlike some people who get into politics because they see corruption in their government and want to get rid of it and say put it back on the side of the people (i.e. Sarah Palin) Obama got into politics to play that very game.
Which brings me to my next point, the righteous indignation of anyone in the Obama camp who has connections to the now much maligned "Chicago Way." Take Rahm "sleeps with fishes" Emmanuel. This is a guy who when reading of a list of "traitors" to the Clinton's stabbed a steak knife into a table saying "Dead!" after reading each name. Clearly he's no wilting flower and yet he's been avoiding the media like the plague and frankly it's only making things worse. What did Emmanuel say to Blagoevich in their six conversations that are now conveniently on FBI wiretaps. Could it be about who will take over Emmanuels vacated position in House due to his new appointment as Obama's Chief of Staff? Or was he pressuring the Governor to toe the line on who Obama wanted to take over his Senate seat? Or were they simply exchanging hair care tips? No one knows and the point is in this new transparent world that Obama promised we should know! But like many of Obama's promises I'm not holding my breath on this one being filled because as many of his followers are finally figuring out he's a politician not the secular savior they'd been pining for.
Finally, there's Governor Blagoevich himself the guy is clearly scum and will likely becomae a poster child for government corruption. You know you have a problem when your sanity is even being questioned by Keith Olbermann but it is amazing how that seems to be the chosen line of reasoning for Blago's behavior. Frankly I don't think he's anywhere near insane just a product of his environment but unlike other Chicago style politicians he got way to cocky and was caught. David Freddoso at National Review has an excellent take on Blago's arrogance and it's reflection on Obama. Sadly,America has made her bed and is only realizing now who she chose to go to bed with not that she had much of a choice to begin with. My final question would be is in light of all of this when will character come back? When will who we choose to hang out with again be seen as a reflection of ourselves? We saw what happens when we ignore the lack of character in a president (Bill Clinton) and unfortunately we're about to find out again. As long as there are people like Sarah Palin willing to tread the toxic waters of government and still maintain their character there is hope but they need our support and vigilance so the sharks don't eat them alive.

Auto Bailout Aftermath and what Ohio politicians did

In these early morning hours America and breath a brief sigh of relief as the Senate was able to kill the UAW Bailout (much to the chagrin of Chris Dodd and his fellow socialists). I'd like to focus this post primarily on what my home state Ohio did and did not do but Michelle Malkin has a complete list of those Senate and House Republicans that stood up and voted against the bailout and those who caved.
As for Ohio the out of the 13 Republicans three caved and voted for the bailout in the House it was Ralph Regula (regrettably he represents my district) who is outgoing and to be replaced by Democrat John Bocceri . Voting along with Regula was Rep. Steve LaTourette who represents the 14th District of Ohio (this encompasses the northern tip of Ohio). LaTourette is a memeber of the moderate and socially liberal Republican group Republican Main Street Partnership (oddly enough they claim to be fiscally conservative so I can't imagine why some of their members voted for the bailout). LaTourette won re-election this past cycle and I implore all in the 14th District to give Steve a ring and remind him what socialism is and why we don't want it.
In the Senate George "Kleenex" Voinovich voted for the bailout as well. He should expect a call from all of us reminding him that votes like this along with his past antics put his 2010 re-election on shaky ground. That's not to say I want to see a Democrat win, Sherrod Brown is enough, but a formidable candidate who stands on conservative values needs to be found to set up a primary.

God and America

Many of you are probably aware of the controversy in the Washington state capital of Olympia.
I cringed a bit as the atheist plaque was read off but it was the last portion that really stuck in my craw "Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds" Excuse me? Typical of a tolerant lib to denigrate that which they do not understand. You don't want to believe in God? That's your choice ( a sad one and I pray for a change of heart) but don't tell me that my beliefs are baseless with an insidious agenda. This of course is all defended by the smug little argument about separation of church and state or as the Freedom From Religion Foundation's co-president, Dan Barker puts it "we claim our place at the table to exercise free speech and freedom of religion, which includes freedom from religion" This is a gross misinterpretation of the First Amendment. You see even though our founding fathers held differing views on religion (some were Christian, others agnostic, and of course there was Thomas Jefferson) they knew that this country was divinely inspired and no honest historian can deny the Judeo-Christian foundations upon which America was founded upon. They wanted to protect us from a theocracy not faith. Although I'm sure they envisioned that there would be snakes in the grass along the way who would try to tear these principles down they couldn't have imagined the present day onslaught we face today.
It's becoming clearer to me how intertwined God is with America. In God we trust is our country's motto, He's mentioned in our founding documents and acknowledged by many of our great leaders. Faith in anything unseen is intimidating to many and yet the majority of this nation has faith (Christian, Jewish, and others) that there is someone out there looking out for us and most of those people go about there daily lives not bothering anyone else just living out there faith. We witness to our faith and many do it without frothing at the moth and banging none believers over the head with a Bible.
Yet there are those who seek to destroy God and in doing so destroy America. I know that might sound a bit extreme to some but what happens to something when the foundation is gone? Liberals can gloss over the influence of God in this country all they want but the connection cannot be denied. They won't give up though and neither will we. Even when it appears that God has been driven away He is still there. I'm reminded of a story about Poland when it was under the the rule of communist and godless Russia. The communist had done everything they could to destroy the faith of the Polish. Nowa Hutta, Poland was established during the 1950's as a model for communist living a "workers paradise" this of course meant that there would be no church but even communism and it's brutality could not keep the people from gathering for Mass wherever they could sometimes in the open air. At a time when many lived in fear of a war with Russia these people stood defiant for as priests from Krakow led the mass and celebrated Christ. One of those priests campaigned tirelessly for a church to be built and eventually one was , the Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland. The priest went on to become Pope John Paul II and along with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher become one of communism's staunches opponents.
It amazes me at how I'm constantly told by liberals "If you don't like it then shut the (Fill in the blank) up!" Yet gay rights advocates can invade a church service and shove their views down people's throats because a fair and democratic vote didn't go their way. No, I'm supposed to sit and take it while the values and morals I treasure and believe are the foundation of this country are desecrated on a daily basis. My Dad has often referred to us as the "silent majority" we live our lives, raise our families, help our friends, and try to do the best we can. Yet the things we believe make this country great are constantly under attack and we are faced now with a president who is on their side. What can we do? Pray. Pray that we are not ruled by hate. Live our faith the way we always have but now more then ever we must be on our guard against those who wish to destroy our country's foundation.

Cure yet to be found for Rabid Bush Hatred

After running one of the greatest propaganda movements outside of Nazi Germany there is still great unrest in the MSM. Apparently even the election of their anointed one has done little to quell their lunacy. I suppose so long as President Bush remains at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue they'll continue to bay at the moon and froth at the mouth. Take Chris Matthews who recently called for President Bush to resign early so Obama can get a head start on his presidency. I guess things like civility, precedent, and even the Constitution can be steam rolled in their anticipation for the Obama inauguration.
Even good liberal lunes like Nancy Pelosi aren't immune to the Obama express. Detroit Free Press writer Rochelle Riley claims that the only way the "ineffective" Pelosi can redeem herself by starting immediate impeachment proceedings after all much of the groundwork has already been laid by Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich "the bravest member of Congress" If not for the sake of the economy opines Riley then for the pardons that would be issued by Bush. Riley conveniently forgets the truly criminal pardons of Frank Rich, the 16 members of the terrorist FALN group, and other cronies of the Clinton Administration ironically overseen by Obama pick for Attorney General Eric Holder. It's a pretty rabid piece all that's missing really is the obligatory picture of Bush with horns coming out of his head.
The fantasy is taken one step further by New york Times writer Gail Collins dreams of both Bush and Cheney stepping down to allow for, deep breath, President Pelosi to take over until January 20. Collins gushes "Obviously, she’d defer to her party’s incoming chief executive, and Barack Obama could begin governing. As a bonus, the Pelosi presidency would put a woman in the White House this year after all." The only bright spot in this scenario for me would seeing Hillary Clinton's head exploding as Pelosi took the Oath of Office (Seriously I'm surprised she managed to campaigne even half heartedly for Obama)
Collins continues "Can I see a show of hands? How many people want George W. out and Barack in? A great many Americans have been counting the days all year on their 2008 George W. Bush Out of Office Countdown calendars." This is actually an amusing quote if you picture Collins saying it to a room full of stuffed animals as nice men in white coats look on. It also goes to show how few people are reading the NYT (shock). The Bush calanders really don't surprise me that much. After all since liberals don't celebrate Christmas they have to have something to look forward to in their sad dreary lives.

Article Links
http://www.freep.com/article/20081125/COL10/81125018/1081
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/22/opinion/22collins.html?_r=2&adxnnl=1&partner=rss&emc=rss&adxnnlx=1227657614-N+CmXvuaxwQWDVxrBFtYcw

Greetings!

Hello! Welcome to my humble blog. Like many conservatives I woke up kind of sick on Novemeber 5th but fortunatly it didn't last long and like many conservatives I have been inspired by Sarah Palin to take back America.
The Conservative movement is not dead! We face the challenge of taking the Republican party back from the brink of Democrat Lite. In my own state of Ohio we face the fight to turn Ohio red in 2010.
